Your sleep stays yours.
Last updated 16 June 2026
Bedhead is built around a simple idea: the app should show you your sleep without ever taking it from you. There is no Bedhead account and no Bedhead server. We can't see your data, because it never reaches us.
What Bedhead reads
With your permission, Bedhead reads sleep analysis from Apple Health — the sleep your Apple Watch or a compatible tracker has already recorded. It uses this only to show you last night, your averages, your stages, and your trends inside the app. Bedhead does not write to Apple Health, and it reads nothing else from it.
Where your data lives
Your sleep history is stored on your device and in your own private iCloud (Apple's CloudKit private database), held under your Apple ID — so it's backed up and comes back if you reinstall or set up a new iPhone. It is held under your account, not ours. We have no access to it, and it is never sent to a Bedhead server — there isn't one.
Your settings — wake time, sleep target, and preferences — sync through Apple's iCloud key-value store, again under your Apple ID.
What we don't do
- No analytics or tracking SDKs.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No selling or sharing of your data — we never receive it to begin with.
- No location, contacts, microphone, or camera access.
Subscriptions
Bedhead's premium tier (Trends) is an auto-renewing subscription billed by Apple. Purchases are handled by the App Store; Bedhead never sees your payment details. We use Adapty to manage subscription status and entitlements — it processes purchase-related information (such as your transaction and a subscription identifier) so the app knows whether premium is active, and so your subscription follows your Apple ID if you reinstall or move to a new iPhone. It does not receive your sleep data.
Notifications
The optional wind-down reminder is scheduled locally on your device and delivered by iOS. It's off by default, and nothing about it leaves your phone.
Your controls
- Delete your history any time in Settings → Delete Sleep History. This removes Bedhead's stored history from your device and iCloud; your Apple Health data is untouched.
- Revoke Health access in the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security → Health.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings.
Children
Bedhead is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under the age required to hold an Apple ID in their region.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll post the new version here and update the date above.
